The programmer will be responsible for developing, modifying, and optimising knitting programs for Shima Seiki flatbed knitting machines to meet production, quality, and technical specifications. This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and experience working in a high-performance knitwear production environment.
Develop and program knitwear designs using Shima Seiki SDS-ONE APEX3 / APEX4 or equivalent systems
Create, modify, and optimise machine programs for SSR / SIR / SES / NSVR / N.SSG or similar Shima Seiki models
Translate style specifications, technical sheets, and sampling requirements into accurate knitting programs
Troubleshoot programming and machine performance issues
Work closely with Sampling, Production & Technical teams to ensure product quality and efficiency
Ensure correct stitch structures, tensions, yarn settings, trims, and finishing parameters
Improve program efficiency to reduce wastage and downtime
Prior hands-on experience as a Shima Seiki Programmer in an industrial flat-knit environment
Strong working knowledge of APEX3 / APEX4 software
Understanding of:
Jacquards
Intarsia
Links & links-jacquard
Transfer structures
Ribs / Milano / Half-Cardigan
Stitch structures, tensions & yarn behaviour
Ability to interpret technical specifications and convert into accurate programs
Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
Good communication and teamwork skills
